Many people were surprised when the Vegas Golden Knights traded Marc-Andre Fleury to the Chicago Blackhawks. His agent said Fleury, who is 35 and has one year left on his contract, would weigh his options before deciding whether to retire or report to the Blackhawks. It was decided, one report says.
Fleury has chosen to report to Chicago for training camp, per Barstool Sports.
Fleury has made a lot of money in his career, but giving up $7 million in a trade is not easy. He can play out the year, collect the money, and retire. And he can get revenge on his former team. On paper, the Blackhawks have improved considerably this offseason. Maybe Fleury wants to show the Knights why they should have made this move.
