Friedman feels Eichel will fail his physical and consequently will not be cleared to play in his weekly 32 Thoughts piece. He also fears his captaincy will be taken away from him by the club.
Because Eichel's ailment is hockey-related, the Sabres have the option of placing him on injured reserve or long-term injured reserve if he fails the physical this week. The team would have been able to suspend Eichel if he had refused to report and undergo the aforementioned physical.
The situation in Buffalo is so tangled that one longtime executive said this week that "this is the most complicated situation I've seen" in his career.
Is this injury a career ending injury for Eichel or will he back to his regular self?
