After meeting with Eichel's agent, the Sabres reopened conversations with interested teams, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. The Golden Knights are in the mix, according to Vegas Hockey Now's Steve Carp, although it's unclear which medical surgery Eichel will need to treat his herniated disc in his neck.
The Golden Knights are notorious for taking risks, which might make them the new frontrunners for Eichel. Eichel may be the No. 1 centre the Golden Knights have been missing since Day 1.
However, Vegas must be cautious with the asking return. The Knights would have to cut two players to open up salary space for his $10 million annual average. Eichel has a $10 million cap hit through 2025-26. We still don't know where he'll play next season.
