Since it was revealed that Jack Eichel wants out of Buffalo, the New York Rangers have been one of the most talked about potential destinations.
They seem like a good fit for him, as they have a lot of young players on their roster and prospects they could trade for him. A former Rangers reporter claims the team has never been keen on signing the 24-year-old superstar.
Brooks tweeted on Friday that Rangers GM Chris Drury has been telling agents he has never been serious about acquiring Eichel. This is shocking given all the recent reports implying the Rangers were heavily involved.
If this is true, the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings appear to be the frontrunners to sign Eichel, with the Vegas Golden Knights a distant possibility. The Sabres may be forced to trade their disgruntled centerman for a return that is less than stellar. This will be an exciting storey to follow throughout the summer.
