Saturday is an important day in the expansion draft process, with teams entering a transaction freeze as of 3pm ET and submitting protection lists prior to 5pm ET.

There are already several bigger names expected to be left exposed, including former 3-time Vezina Trophy finalist Ben Bishop, Matt Duchene and P.K. Subbing, and word out of Columbus is that the Blue Jackets could look to leave an interesting player exposed as well.

TSN's Darren Dreger suggested on Saturday morning that forward Max Domi will be among those left unprotected in the expansion draft.

If true, it's almost a certainty that Seattle will select the 26-year-old, who was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes with the 12th overall pick back in 2013.

Domi has had a couple of forgettable seasons in 2019-20 in Montreal and 2020-21 in Columbus, but was able to put up 72 points in 82 games with the Canadiens back in 2018-19.

If Seattle does elect to take Domi from Columbus, that's the type of pick that has the potential to pay off in a big way for the NHL's 32nd franchise.
