Suspension of Five Players from the 2018 Junior Team Canada: A Major Update Released by the NHL and Bill Daly
The timeline for the pending NHL results of the investigation into members of Canada's 2018 World Juniors team appears to be at a close conclusion, according to Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly in a new interview.
Daly Says Report On WJC Case Could Come Soon
According to a new interview with Daly in The Athletic's Michael Russo, Daly tells Russo that the goal is to have the report into the investigation into the 2018 Canadian team as soon as possible, and that the report into the investigation is coming soon.
You want to do a thorough job. You want to get all the information you can. I think it's only fair to gather all the information you can. I do think we expect to see a final report very shortly, and then what flows from that is really an unknown at this point. But I expect that that'll play out, this is going to sound redundant, but sooner rather than later. - Bill Daly
It has been months since the league announced there would be a report published, detailing unnamed members of Canada 2018 World Juniors squad accused of an alleged group sexual assault of a woman in London, ON, where most of the team was gathered for a gala in celebration of their Gold Medal win in the tournament. Members of the 2018 team are currently banned from Canadian competition pending the results of the investigation.
As many as 5 unnamed members of Canada's 2018 WJC team have been reported to be linked to the allegations, although charges are yet to have been filed, and no report has been released, but as Daly promises, their announcement hopes to be soon.
