Hockey Canada comes out swinging with the first player added to men's Hockey team for the upcoming Olympics in Beijing. It's none other then Buffalo Sabres 2021 First Overall pick Defenceman Owen Power!
Owen Power decided to stay back with the University of Michigan instead of the NHL, for the opportunity to play for Canada in the World Junior Hockey Championships in Edmonton unfortunately the Tournament was cancelled by the IIHF.
Where Owen Power and Canada looked like a good Shot for gold, and Owen Power becoming the first Team Canada defenceman to score at Hat-Trick in the tournament. Imagine the disappointment the players had when they learned the Tournament was cancelled? With most players only getting one shot.
Now he's got another chance to win some gold for his country and the addition of the big 6'6 Defenceman is definitely a good start heading into Beijing.
