I think it's safe to say Jesperi Kotkaniemi is glad the Carolina Hurricanes gave him his $6.1 million dollar offer sheet to sign especially since the Montreal Canadiens didn't match it.

Jesperi kotkaniemi is enjoying it in Carolina, he doesn't have the pressure he had in Montreal with the Hurricanes having a solid roster the young Finnish can relax and develop.

The crazy thing with players like Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen leading the offence, Kotkaniemi sits tied for 7th for scoring on the team with 9 goals and 9 assists for 18 points this season.

If Kotkaniemi was in Montreal he would be 4th on the team in scoring, Christian Dvorak the player the Habs aquire to replace Kotkaniemi has 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 total points.

However Kotkaniemi doesn't just have more points then Dvorak, Kotkaniemi has a +3 rating while Dvorak is -18 this season.

It appears Kotkaniemi is going to a solid career tho I'm not sure he's ever going to be that star player the Canadiens were thinking when they gambled and picked him 3rd overall in 2018.

Especially when others had him not in the top 10, in hindsight if the Canadiens could go back they would have drafted what was called a sure bet picking Brady Tkachuk. Tkachuk went 4th overall and is now the captain of the Ottawa Senators.
