The renowned player agent Allan Walsh called for Gary Bettman's firing in a controversial statement.

Bettman's refusal to see the connections between hockey and Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) has brought him a lot of criticism, and now, a major personality in the sport calls for his dismissal.

Top agent Allan Walsh officially asks Gary Bettman to step down as NHL commissioner

Walsh, who represents players like Huberdeau, Pacioretty, Perron, Fleury and Drouin, voiced his concerns about Bettman's views on CTE.

He asked the owners, players, media and fans to come together and ask Bettman to step down.

"It's time for everyone with a stake in the game to demand Gary Bettman be removed as NHL commissioner. His continued denial of #CTE is not acceptable. The owners, players, media and fans have the collective power to demand he step down.

How many more Gary? "

In every sports, CTE is a real concern, but Bettman continues to close his eyes on this major issue, which is frustrating because of how many people suffered from that disease.

"I wish (NHL commissioner Gary Bettman) could see the damage these brains endure and the pain this disease causes families."

Unfortunately, it's hard to see why Bettman would change his mind now, after years of denial. At 71, he'll likely retire soon, but considering the fact that he kept his job through many controversies, this probably won't be the reason why Bettman quits.
