New Jersey Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe found himself with some additional punishment after his outburst leading to his ejection against Vegas.

During the game between the Vegas Golden Knights and New Jersey Devils, a scary scene unfolded as Jack Hughes ended up crashing hard into the board after colliding with Jack Eichel, and looked to be in serious pain.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe was incensed about the incident and he ended up having a tirade on the bench leading to his ejection. However, it wasn't just the game misconduct that Keefe is feeling the pain of.

So is his wallet.

It was announced that Keefe would be fined $25,000 in addition to the ejection, leaving a hearty hole in his pockets.

Keefe had every right to be upset as his star player looked much worse for wear and could put a serious dent in their playoff hopes after a fairly successful first season with him at the helm.

It's not the first time Keefe has been ejected either, as he's been tossed numerous times as a member of the Maple Leafs, and isn't afraid of speaking his mind on the bench.

Hughes is still being evaluated by the team according to Keefe, and if he were to miss any amount of time would be devastating to New Jersey.

In 62 games, Hughes has recorded 27 goals and 43 assists and a plus-12 rating. He's tied for first on the team in points with Jesper Bratt and the gap between him and third place Nico Hischier is 21 points; a substantial gap.

The Devils will be in tough without Hughes, and though Keefe's found himself with a bit less money in his account, it's a small price to pay for standing up for his players.
