Dubas signed a 7 year-deal with the Penguins and just hours after being hired did some of his own firings showing he's making this his team now.
There's alot of speculation that Leafs former assistant GM Jason Spezza will be Dubas choice as the Penguins next gm but, what else is Dubas likely to do before then?
What will Dubas do with the contracts of Mikael Granlund, Jeff Petry, and Jeff Carter? In net, is Tristan Jarry worth extending, or do they other pursue goalies on the market such as Connor Hellebuyck?
Like Toronto Dubas has some great players with, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Jake Guentzel but with them all nearing the end of their careers Dubas will no doubt try to get more younger and faster.
With $20 million in cap space to spend soon, will Pittsburgh be active in free agency? Who will they re-sign? There are more questions than answers at this point, but that will all change in the coming weeks.
Just How Different Will Pittsburgh Look By July 1? One thing we know with certainty is this team will look drastically different when training camp rolls around, that in mind, Dubas brings a very forward-thinking, aggressive, and analytically driven approach, something this club lacked for the longest time.
You have to wonder if Dubas will try to acquire some of his former players in Toronto as Dubas was the architect of the Leafs current roster.
