According to reports John Gibson trade talks are heating up. With the Anaheim Ducks struggling heavily the 30-year-old goalie could be looking for a change of scenery.
Gibson has been consistently one of the best goalies in the NHL during his time in the league. Having a bit of a bounce-back year any team would be lucky to add him. Reports have also indicated that two frontrunners have emerged for Gibson's services.
Reports today have suggested two teams that have at least checked in on John Gibson recently.
The first team is the New Jersey Devils. With the Ducks playing the Devils in the coming weeks reports have confirmed that Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald has re-engaged in talks with the Ducks for Gibson.
The second team mentioned is the surging Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings are off to a torrid start to the season. Now without their captain Dylan Larkin goaltending becomes a more important position sources say Gibson could be the solution.
If the trade race does come down to these two teams whoever lands Gibson could change the landscape of the Eastern Conference. In an incredibly competitive conference every positive addition matters.
