League-Altering Trade Could Change the Arizona Coyotes Forever
The Arizona Coyotes have been in the headlines for the past few days after the city of Tempe voted against their new arena project.
Now, they'll probably have to relocate, but will still play next year in Arizona.
A trade proposal was shared on social media that could give some power back to the franchise.
An Absurd Proposition
Here, in this scenario, Arizona would receive Auston Matthews, and Toronto would receive Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz, and two picks in the 2024 NHL Draft.
In order to land Matthews, the Yotes would have to get rid of two of their best players and some important picks. Why should they do that when they could get him for free on the free-agent market in 2024?
Matthews said he wanted to stay in Toronto, but everything could change before his contract expires.
It would be surprising to see this trade happening, but it's fun to consider nonetheless.
