The Chicago Blackhawks have been the team many people expected them to be. They have had bright moments with big wins fueled by superstar rookie Connor Bedard. On average though the Blackhawks have struggled to compete.
With a record of 4-7-0 the Blackhawks are near the bottom of the Western Conference. This has led many to speculate on new destinations for their veteran leaders who might be looking to chase a Stanley Cup.
Two of the players surrounded by the most rumors are two of the most recently acquired. Corey Perry and Nick Foligno were both signed this offseason and are now rumored to be heading out of the windy city sooner rather than later.
New reports from nhltraderumors.me have speculated that the trade market for both Corey Perry and Nick Foligno is heating up. Both players were expected to be made available by the trade deadline by the Blackhawks and this still seems to be the plan.
With Perry two teams have been at the forefront of the initial rumors. The first is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Much has been made about the Maple Leafs' lack of physicality even with their recent acquisitions. Perry could be yet another big physical player with veteran leadership.
The second team rumored to be checking in on Perry is the Tampa Bay Lightning. This would be a bit of a reunion for Perry as he played there from 2021-23. Again his veteran leadership and ability to play up and down a lineup could be key for the Lightning come playoff time.
In Nick Foligno's case, two teams have also been linked with acquiring him. The first is the New York Rangers. The Rangers have their top guys in Artemi Planarian, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider. Foligno would be a middle to bottom-six scoring forward who again brings leadership and pedigree.
A similar landing spot that was mentioned is the Los Angeles Kings. Again they have their main top forwards but could use some depth scoring. Foligno has shown a great ability to contribute to winning teams doing so last year with the powerhouse Boston Bruins.
Both Perry and Foligno are likely to have new homes by the end of the season. They will have served their purpose of leadership in Chicago and bring in more assets for the future.
As the trade deadline gets closer rumors are sure to pick up regarding their new homes.
