In return, the Flames would trade Elias Lindholm, Rasmus Andersson, and a 2023 2nd round pick to Toronto. This move would undoubtedly be a blockbuster deal.
With Matthews entering the last year of his current contract, the Leafs will need to save substantial cap space to accommodate his projected annual salary of $13-$15 million. Nylander, who also has one year left on his contract, is expected to demand a significant raise.
