Vegas is getting Hanifin with 75% of his salary retained. They've also got the rights to a promising player, Mikhail Vorobyov, from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Calgary receives a conditional 2025 1st Round Pick, AHL prospect Daniil , Miromanov who they signed to a two year extension and another conditional 3rd Round Pick.
The Flyers jumped in on the action too, sending over Vorobyov's rights to Vegas to seal the deal.
Hanifin's no stranger to making an impact. With his solid defense and slick puck-handling skills, he's been a real game-changer for the Flames. Now, he's bringing his talents to Vegas, adding some serious depth to their blue line.
And let's not forget about Vorobyov. He's been tearing it up in the KHL, racking up 41 points in just 61 games this season. With his skills, he's sure to be an asset for the Golden Knights.
Now, onto the fine print. The draft picks involved in the trade come with some interesting conditions. If Vegas trades away the 2025 1st round pick before the deadline, it becomes a 2026 pick. And if Vegas manages to win at least one round in the 2024 playoffs, that 3rd round pick could get a upgrade to a 2nd rounder.
Each team is holding onto 25% of Hanifin's $4.95 million paycheck, making this deal a bit easier on the wallet for everyone involved.
With Hanifin's contract up after this season, this trade is a strategic move by Vegas to gear up for a playoff push. And for the Flyers, it's a chance to beef up their draft picks and strengthen their prospect pool.
As the trade deadline draws near, you can bet there'll be more moves like this shaking up the league. So, stay tuned for all the latest updates as teams wheel and deal their way towards the playoffs!
