In a shocking turn of events, during the Gatineau Olympiques/Baie-Comeau Drakkar, Gatineau's Justin Blais hit his head and started having a medical emergency.

In a game between two QMJHL teams, a scary incident occurred that shocked everyone. Everything was going normal, with Baie-Comeau dominating the game, when Gatineau Olympiques player Justin Blais got into a scuffle and consequently hit his head on the ice. But it got much scarier after that.

According to reports, Blais started having convulsions on the ice after hitting his head; a horrific consequence of his head injury.

"A very concerning scene in Baie-Comeau: the head of Justin Blais from the Olympiques hit the ice as he fell during a scuffle. He went into convulsions and had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher. Fortunately, he was conscious as he left. Thoughts are with the Olympiques."

The game was immediately ended, giving Baie-Comeau the win but that's not what matters right now. The seriousness of this incident should not be overlooked, as concussions, CTE, and severe brain injuries are far too common nowadays. It's never a good sign when anyone hits their head, but the fact it was followed by such a frightening series of events is cause for concern.

Baie-Comeau also reached out via their official X account, wishing the best for Blais in their post-game update:

The Olympiques also updated the public on Blais's condition, stating that he had been transported to a local medical facility to be evaluated.

"Justin Blais was transported to a local hospital as a precaution for further examinations. He is alert and responsive."

It's a huge relief to hear that Blais is both alert and responsive, and all we can hope for is that Blais has the speediest of recoveries and we can see him back soon enough. It's always scary when a player gets a head injury, but when things reach the extent of Blais' injury; it becomes surreal.

We at HockeyPatrol would like to wish Justin Blais a speedy, smooth, and healthy recovery from this incident.

We will update you with any information as it becomes available to us.
