The Boston Bruins seemed to have the best of both worlds in the crease during the 2023-24 season. This Atlantic Division team played both Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark, who recorded an SV% of at least .915.
However, the team seemed to assure themselves that they would have to rely more heavily on Swayman after they traded Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators for Mark Kastelic, Joonas Korpisalo, and a draft pick.
However, the Bruins look to be in trouble keeping their starting goaltender at all. According to NHL Insider Kevin Paul DuPont of the Boston Globe, the team may be a little short on cap space to sign Jeremy Swayman to a deal. His contractual value is expected to be north of $9 million, almost half a million more than they currently have available.
With few players left to move reasonably, the Bruins could have trouble pulling in the required cap space to re-sign Jeremy Swayman. Hopefully, they can pull off the impossible and make it happen. Otherwise, it could be a rough season in Boston.
