Bruins Brad Marchand undergoes three surgeries this off-season
It appears as though Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins played last season with three injuries and has had three major surgeries this off-season.
Just a few minutes ago, NBC Sports Boston's NHL writer Ty Anderson dropped a bombshell report regarding the fact that Bruins forward Brad Marchand played the entire last season with a serious elbow injury. If that wasn't tough enough, towards the tail end of the regular season, Marchand added groin and abdominal injuries to his list.
Due to these nagging problems, Brad Marchand underwent three surgeries during the offseason to resolve all his above-mentioned injuries. Therefore, the big question of whether he will be ready to hit the ice when the new season opens in just several weeks is what has been profoundly debated by fans and analysts alike.
The latest word on the street, however, has it that Brad Marchand will be on track to start the season on time, greatly relieving the Bruins brass and their fan base. His return is paramount as Marchand has been one of the main pieces of the team's success.
Despite playing in pain last season, Brad Marchand had a year that was nothing short of spectacular. Picked 71st overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Bruins, he played all 82 regular-season games, refusing to sit out even just one game. In those, he totaled 29 goals and 38 assists for 67 points. His resiliency and determination to help lift the team only further cemented his reputation as one of the toughest competitors in the league.
How well he comes back post-op will be one of the hotter topics going into the new season. If his recovery continues to go just as well as his performances have gone, there will absolutely be no question that he keeps on dominating on the ice.
