Marchand, who has spent his entire 16-year NHL career with the Bruins since being drafted by the team in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, is now being linked out of Boston at 36-years-old.
According to Cam Robinson of EliteProspects, the Boston Bruins continue to take calls on Marchand, and despite Marchand's insistence that he wishes to stay in Beantown, the Bruins are faced with the potential of trading their captain and longtime star.
Marchand is in the final year of an eight-year contract in which he is making just over $6.1M until the end of this season, in which he will be a free agent.
Having already won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011, getting a shot at glory isn't a necessity for Marchand who has already held the biggest prize in hockey, but there are teams offering another shot at a title.
After more than 1000 NHL games with the Bruins, Marchand may soon be gone by the NHL's Trade Deadline on March 7th.
Once seen as a Bruins lifer, it now appears that cracks are beginning the form in the future of Brad Marchand in Boston, with it looking uncertain how much longer their partnership will go on.
Marchand is still a productive NHLer, with 20 goals and 45 points in 58 games for the Bruins this season.
The Bruins are just outside of a playoff spot just two years after breaking the league's team points record, with a major roster turnover and a lack of prospect depth being contributing factors in a decline for the team's fortunes.
ESPN's Greg Wyshynski called the New Jersey Devils a team that makes "a lot of sense" for acquiring Marchand if the Devils can move Ondrej Palat's contract, although if that involves a trade or something to be done in free agency is hard to say.
Brad Marchand as of right now is focused on staying with the Bruins as they fight for a final playoff berth.
But as Boston continues to hear from interesting teams that could submit themselves as teams to allow Marchand to once again join a contending team, one question remains:
Is the once powerful Boston Bruins dynasty officially finished?
