Last year Jeremy Swayman rose above Linus Ullmark in the Boston Bruins goaltending battle and now GM Don Sweeney has a difficult decision to make.

This past season Jeremy Swayman established himself as one of the best goaltenders in the NHL. Splitting the crease with Linus Ullmark, Swayman got 43 starts while Ullmark got 39 and the pair posted near identical stats with Swayman having slightly better stats.

With such a strong campaign and being a restricted free agent, Swayman is due for a new contract with the Bruins and his demands are quite high.

The Bruins currently have about $20 million in cap space but need to resign a lot of players. They have Swayman, Matt Grzelcyk, Kevin Shattenkirk, Jesper Boqvist, Jake DeBrusk, Danton Heinen, Pat Maroon, James Van Riemsdyk, and others all needing new contracts and likely will need to fill the holes they leave if they cannot retain them.

The Bruins are rumored to be shopping Swayman's partner Linus Ullmark, who will make $5,000,000 next year, and let Swayman take the reigns as the true starter. At 30 years old, Ullmark has one more year on his current contract and is set to be an unrestricted free agent making a move logical for the Bruins.

The high contract demands from Swayman make sense as he is likely going to be very good for a very long time but it does mean that the Bruins will need to shake some things up to keep him in town.
