All-Canadian blockbuster trade involving Arber Xhekaj falls through
Arber Xhekaj is one of the NHL's most exciting players for his massive hits and willingness to drop the gloves and rival Canadian teams are trying to pry him away from the Montreal Canadiens.
Arber Xhekaj has made quite the name for himself with massive hits and fights like this while also improving year after year.
Rival teams have seen this and reportedly the Calgary Flames tried to bring the young defenseman to Alberta.
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens were clearly not swayed by the Flames' offer as Xhekaj remains in Montreal. If the Canadiens do wind up trading Xhekaj, it will certainly have to be for a haul considering how he plays a playoff-style game and is already a fan favorite in Montreal.
Xhekaj will look to take on a larger role with the Montreal Canadiens next season as he only got into 44 games this season and split time between the NHL and the AHL. The 6'4" defenseman is currently a restricted free agent and is expected to sign a new deal with the Habs this offseason.
