Calgary Flames demand massive return for Jacob Markstrom
It has been revealed by an insider that the Calgary Flames are demanding a massive return for Jacob Markstrom on the trade market.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, and Ottawa Senators reportedly interested in acquiring the Flames' number one goalie, fans have been wondering what kind of return Calgary should expect if a trade occurs.
Reporter Bruce Garrioch revealed that the Flames could be looking for a high-end prospect and a first-round pick in return for Markstrom:
Markstrom has two years left on his $6 million AAV contract and has a no-move clause that gives him most of the power regarding his next destination.
At 34 years old, Markstrom is at a stage in his career where he wants to be with a team with high Stanley Cup aspirations. In 14 seasons in the NHL, he has only reached the playoffs twice and never won the Cup.
Last season, he had impressive numbers despite being part of a struggling team, with a 2.78 GAA and a 0.905 SV%.
