Jonathan Toews Eyes One Team for His NHL Return
Toews' Goal.
Jonathan Toews announced that he will take the 2023-24 season off but will attempt a comeback in 2024-25 in his farewell letter to the Chicago Blackhawks.
"I'd like to announce that I am not fully retiring, but I am taking time away from the game again this season. I cannot deny my love for the game of hockey and still feel the passion for competing at my highest level.
However, these last few seasons have been very difficult considering my health challenges. My focus is to give myself the time and space to fully heal and enjoy life to the fullest once again. Along the way I have met several people who have struggled with health issues pertaining to long COVID, chronic immune response syndrome, and other similar cases that are quite complex. I now recognize the importance of one day sharing the details of my health journey with you all.
Thank you to all of you who have supported me and respected my privacy in the process."
Toews won it all in Chicago. Ho got verything he can win on a team level with the Blackhawks during his 1,067-game career.
He's set to get a year off, but is reportedly already eyeing a possible destination for his return.
Toews Linked to Bruins
Toews has reportedly been looking to join the Bruins since the Hawks announced they wouldn't re-sign him. At the time, Patrice Bergeron was still in Boston. Toews could be a great replacement for the Bruins' captain.
"Pagnotta also noted the potential fit between the Bruins and NHL veteran Jonathan Toews. Even though Toews had primarily been working on getting healthy and recovering from the effects of Long Covid, the Bruins were on Toews' radar dating back to last year as a potential destination."
We can't wait to see what the future holds for Toews!
