Patrick Kane Expresses Strong Discontent with the Blackhawks Before His Return to the United Center
Kane to Return to Chicago For the First Time Since Leaving the Blackhawks
Patrick Kane will face the Chicago Blackhawks for the first time since he got traded during last season's trade deadline.
Kane, who played 16 seasons with the Blackhawks, will face his old team on February 25th.
"I've always played with a bit of a chip on the shoulder, so hopefully I have a little bit that night and can play a good game and help the Wings win."
"It would be fun to score a goal or have a couple of points, whatever it is. Just to play well against them."
With the Hawks organization planning to retire Chris Chelios' number on the same night, it promises to be an exciting game.
Kane commented:
"It'll be fun to go back there on February 25th. Chelios' jersey going up and the first game back on the road, so it'll be a fun night."
In the interview, Kane also expressed dissatisfaction about his former team.
Kane Hoped to Get a Call From the Blackhawks This Summer
The Blackhawks drafted Connor Bedard this summer, getting a new superstar to replace Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.
When the historic draft happened, Kane wondered if his old team would give him a call, but they never did.
"Yeah, I mean, I never really knew, right? Especially after that first pick, I was like, OK, maybe they'll try to bring, even like Tazer or myself back."
"I know when I was a young guy, it really helped having some older guys around like Robert Lang, (Martin) Havlat, Yanick Perrault and Patrick Lalime, guys like that. Obviously, we had some young guys coming up that were pretty special players, and that made it pretty easy on me, too. It seemed like they wanted to go in a direction where they were going to bring in some different type of veterans. Yeah, it's what it is. Good for them. You don't think about it too much."
At the end, Kane had great words for the Blackhawks, but everyone sees the aforementioned chip on his shoulder.
