Former NHLer Brendan Leipsic Receives Russian Citizenship

Brendan Leipsic has made the news today as it was announced that he has received Russian Citizenship after spending the last few years playing in the KHL.

Leipsic was born in Winnipeg and has been playing in the KHL for four years now. He started his KHL career in 2020 with CSKA Moscow, then moved on to play two full seasons with Magnitogorsk Metallurg. He is currently on St. Peterburg SKA. He will continue to be counted as a foreign player on the roster until next season.

Leipsic was drafted by the Nashville Predators in 2012, and played for the Leafs, Golden Knights, Canucks, Kings, and Washington Capitals during his NHL career. He totalled 59 points in 187 career NHL games.

Leipsic was involved in a massive controversy when his direct messages were leaked, showing misogynistic messages.
