Patrick Sharp abandons the Blackhawks and goes back to his roots
Patrick Sharp was once a player for the Philadelphia Flyers, but ultimately found success with the Blackhawks. Now, he is returning home.
Sharp was a very important player for several teams during his NHL career, however he found the most success with the Chicago Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in that city. Throughout his career, Sharp totalled 624 points in 939 NHL games. He was also a member of Team Canada's Olympic team, winning the gold medal with them in 2014.

Sharp has decided to leave the Blackhawks now for a job with the Flyers, returning home to where it all began. He will be a special advisor to the hockey operations department.
While Sharp may not be a player anymore, Flyers' fans will be happy to know he is back with their beloved team.
After giving up a blossoming TV career, Patrick Sharp settles into new role with the Flyers
While being on TV as a broadcaster for the Hawks was enjoyable for Sharp, he began to miss his family and being home. For this reason, he's chosen to jump ship and leave Chicago.
Here is a more detailed explanation of the move:
«I think (television) was great for me the first three or four years after retiring. It kept me in the game, fed my ego, got a lot of face time,» Sharp said. «But as the years went on, it became less enjoyable. I loved the people I worked with, both with the Hawks and at NBC. It felt like they were a part of a team. But I missed actually wearing a team logo and working with players and being a part of something.»
The Flyers have shown promise last season that they are close to taking the next step, and Sharp, now that he has a more hands-on approach, will definitely be able to provide some guidance on how to achieve better success.
