Insider Frank Seravalli shared last week that Colorado will be looking for a new goalie, and the top contender is already known.
Adrian Dater, an insider following the Avs, confirmed that they are apparently on the verge of signing veteran Jaroslav Halak.
An official announcement from the organization is expected to be released soon.
Without Francouz, the Avs must rely on Georgiev. That's why they'll likely get another one soon.
Halak, 38, is the top contender. In his career, he played for seven different teams and is mainly remembered for his playoff run with the Montreal Canadiens in 2010.
Last season, he played 25 games with the Rangers and proved that he's still capable of delivering good performances, with a 2.72 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
It's important to note that other candidates, such as Casey DeSmith (Montreal) and Dan Vladar (Calgary), have been linked to Colorado.
