After Pierre-Luc Dubois was moved by the Winnipeg Jets, the other half of that major trade has now done the same, with Patrik Laine looking to get out of Columbus.
With the arrivals of Patrik Laine and Johnny Gaudreau, the optimism in Columbus was high, but unfortunately things couldn't have gone worse in 2023-24, and now it appears there may be a blockbuster on the way.
According to Pierre LeBrun, the feeling in Columbus is that Laine would like to be moved, and that report reveals that the team and his agent will work together to make it happen.
In four years with Columbus, Laine played in 174 games, tallying just 64 goals and 138 points, but after the team failed to make the playoffs once again this past season, he's looking to move on. At his best, Laine has the talent to be a top line winger in the NHL, but he's failed to find that level consistency throughout his career, so now, the trade market will heat up over the summer as a team could add him to chase the Stanley Cup.
