According to David Pagnotta of 'The Fourth Period', he writes that the Leafs are among multiple teams eyeing Chychrun's services.
Pagnotta highlights the Leafs, along with the Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Washington Capitals as teams that could make a play for him.
Chychrun is headed into the final year of a six-year contract next season with Ottawa, making $4.6M with a 10-team NTC.
Chychrun has been linked to Toronto for a while, and seems even more so than ever expected to be in trade talks for the upcoming UFA.
Although there's no trade set, one can assume Ottawa would want a decent return for Chychrun. Ottawa traded a first round pick last year to Arizona for the defenseman (pick 12, used by the Coyotes to select F Daniil But), as well as two second-round picks.
Chychrun, 26, had a career high in points with 27 assists and 41 points this past season, as well as 14 goals in 82 games.
Pagnotta also says the Senators are looking at adding in net, with Boston's Linus Ullmark and Calgary's Jakob Markstrom a target for GM Steve Staios. Another option is former Sens netminder Filip Gustavsson, now with Minnesota, as well as Nashville's Juuse Saros and Elvis Merzlikins of Columbus.
