Person responsible of Johnny Gaudreau's passing has been arrested
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were struck by a drunk driver and have died. Reports coming out have revealed that the driver has been arrested.
It appears that the Gaudreau brothers were merely 10 minutes away from their home when they were hit by a drunk driver and they sadly died. The driver has officially been arrested on two counts of driving under the influence causing death. This latest development was reported by ESPN's Mike Greenberg.
Sean Higgins, a 43-year-old male, from Woodstown, New Jersey, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the same direction as the Gaudreau brothers when he attempted to pass two slower vehicles in front of him. During the takeover maneuver, he hit both Johnny Gaudreau and his brother and they died on scene.
The Columbus Blue Jackets issued a statement about Johnny Gaudreau's passing this morning. It was a tragic statement that speaks to just how much these two young hockey stars were loved by their families and friends, and no doubt all of the fans of the game.
"Johnny played the game with great joy which was felt by everyone that saw him on the ice. He brought a genuine love for hockey with him everywhere he played from Boston College to the Calgary Flames to Team USA to the Blue Jackets. He thrilled fans in a way only Johnny Hockey could. The impact he had on our organization and our sport was profound, but pales in comparison to the indelible impression he made on everyone who knew him. Johnny embraced our community when he arrived two years ago, and Columbus welcomed him with open arms. We will miss him terribly and do everything that we can to support his family and each other through this tragedy."

Johnny Gaudreau was a 4th-round pick by the Calgary Flames in 2011. He went on to play in 763 career games, having scored 243 goals and 500 assists for 743 points. Gaudreau was one of the smaller players in the game, barely standing at 5-foot-9, but he played the game with such speed and finesse that his lack of height did not prove to be a disadvantage at all to him.
We continue to mourn the passing of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother and the hockey community is in shambles today.
