After a promising start to his career, the Dallas Stars are now set to buy out veteran Ryan Suter, the second time it's happened in his career.

Three years ago, the Minnesota Wild bought out veteran Ryan Suter, who ultimately ended up with the Dallas Stars, and in three seasons with the team, Suter played his role well. Playing 82 games every year, Suter tallied point totals of 32, 25 and 17 over that time, but with the lack of production in 2023-24, the team have officially decided to now buy him out.

The Dallas Stars are buying out the remainder of Ryan Suter's contract.

With one year remaining on Suter's deal this move will add $1.4 million on the Stars cap for the next two seasons.

The Stars will save $1.4 million with the buyout.

According to Jeff Marek, the move will save Dallas $1.4 million, and with one year remaining on Suter's deal, they will simply add on another $1.4 million to their cap in the next two years. Ultimately, Suter started well in Dallas, but the team simply weren't happy with the production, and will now look to use that $1.4 million to add youth and depth to their team.

It's not clear what the future holds for 39-year old Suter, but after being bought out for the second time in four years, it's safe to say that his career is winding down, with the end potentially in sight.
