Today Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving spoke to the media ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft and confirmed the team's plans heading into the draft.

The NHL Draft is a time for teams to continue adding to the future of their franchise. For the Toronto Maple Leafs they have their own first round pick and many wondered if they would offload it in a trade. However, a new quote from Brad Treliving on behalf of Joshua Kloke has confirmed the team plans to keep the pick.
Brad Treliving says it's «more than likely» the Maple Leafs keep and make their first round pick.

With the way Brad Treliving worded his answer, it sounds as though the Maple Leafs are still open to the possibility of trading the pick. At the moment the Maple Leafs do have 7 draft picks but only one in the top 3 rounds.

Many thought their lack of a second or third-round pick would lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to move back in the draft to pick up more selections. As of now, that does not seem to be the case.
With the NHL Draft just a couple of days away the Maple Leafs seem to have a plan in place to select someone to join other prospects like Easton Cowan in the Maple Leafs pipeline.
