Connor McDavid Trolls the Media Ahead of Kings/Oilers Game
With all the discourse on the MVP race and if goals are better than assists, Connor McDavid recently took to the media to make some trolling comments on the matter.
Connor McDavid Trolls Media About Goals And Assists
McDavid is obviously the best player in the NHL. Whether or not he is having the best season, though, is up for debate. He currently has 21 goals and a whopping 70 assists for 91 points in just 54 games played, which is incredible. Despite that, he was asked whether or not he wanted to score more by the media, and had a hilarious answer.
"I've decided I'm just gonna see how many assists I can get... I'm not gonna shoot the puck anymore."
Obviously, this shows you a little bit into the minds of the players. When we think McDavid is out there actively choosing what style of player he wants to be, in reality, he is just playing his hardest and the bounces go how they go. This year, it happens to be that he is getting more assists than goals.
McDavid Comments Come After Online Debate For Whether Pure Goal Scoring or Pure Assists Are More Important
The funniest part of the comments is that this comes from the discussion around Auston Matthews' potentially MVP calibre season. Matthews' defectors argue that his season isn't as impressive as say McDAvid's because he only has 25 assists, despite having 52 goals.
This debate will likely rage on until the season ends, and one player is crowned the MVP.
