After the Edmonton Oilers loss in the Stanley Cup Finals, shocking news has come down that General Manager Ken Holland will not return next season.

This evening NHL insider Darren Dreger has confirmed that the Edmonton Oilers do not expect Ken Holland to return to the organization next season. He mentions a potential new challenge for Ken Holland or retirement in the future.

Darren Dreger on TSN: «Our understanding is that Ken Holland will not be back with the #Oilers. His contract expires, perhaps he wants to move on to new challenges or retirement.» #LetsGoOilers

As of now, there are not any confirmed plans that Ken Holland has for the future. However, one thing known for sure is that he will not be in attendance for the NHL Draft with the Edmonton Oilers.

I believe there's a role for Ken Holland moving forward in EdmontonIF he wants it. His situation will be clarified within a few days. As of right now indications are that he will not be at the Draft in Vegas.

Once there are reports confirming Ken Holland's future and his potential replacement we will pass them along to you. For now, the future of the Edmonton Oilers remains in limbo as Leon Draisaitl needs a contract extension.
