Edmonton Oilers Assistant Coach Paul Coffey is reportedly under investigation for a racial gesture towards a fan during the Oilers versus Canucks game.

There are now reports that Edmonton Oilers' assistant coach Paul Coffey is being investigated by both the NHL and the Edmonton Oilers for making a racial gesture towards a fan wearing a turban. Coffey was seen making what appeared to be hand gestures towards his head.

"The Hockey News has learned that both the Oilers organization and the NHL are investigating [Paul Coffey for an alleged racist gesture to a fan's turban],"
@TheHockeyNews is reporting.

The incident reportedly happened in Vancouver during game one of the series between the @EdmontonOilers and the @Canucks.

This wouldn't be the first time Coffey has faced allegations of racism. In 2014 he was suspended for using a "discriminatory slur" against another minor hockey coach during a game.

This is a troubling situation for the Oilers, as if this happened as alleged, there is no place for this in hockey. Whats worse is that it appears that Coffey has been in trouble for making racial remarks in the past.

According to The Hockey News, the NHL is investigating allegations that Oilers assistant coach Paul Coffey allegedly made racist gestures to a fan with a turban during game 1.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time Coffey has found himself in the midst of such a situation. Back in 2014, while coaching minor hockey, he was suspended for using a "discriminatory slur" directed at another coach.

Hopefully, the matter can be dealt with swiftly, and the truth about the incident can be confirmed.
