Last night, the Oilers won against the Dallas Stars to qualify for the Stanley Cup Finals. For the first time in 18 years, the Oilers will get a chance at winning the Stanley Cup, and could become the first Canadian team in 30 years to win it.
However, something occured last night in the game that sent the Stars on vacation. The referees are facing heat for missing an obvious penalty on Connor McDavid, a recurring topic in the playoffs.
While the refs made a few questionnable decisions in nearly all playoff games, if you followed the Oilers, you know that they let Connor McDavid get away on multiple occasions.
During last night's game, it happened again. In a battle for the puck, McDavid caught the puck in his glove and closed his hands on it before throwing the it away.
We can clearly see what he did in the following video:
It's safe to say that McDavid gets a preferential treatment because of his status. However, it seems unfair to give him advantages.
He doesn't need to get the refs' support, he has enough talent, as you can see in the following video, where McDavid scored the first goal of the game last night:
