The Florida Panthers faced their first test of the season against the Minnesota Wild last night. Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk had a rough start to the season after his breakout campaign last year.

Tkachuk Destroyed By A Massive Hit

During the Panthers and Wild game, Matthew Tkachuk took a massive hit from Marcus Foligno. The hit was along the benches and well away from the puck. After the hit, the Panthers bench went into a frenzy wanting a penalty call.

Foligno was eventually called for interference which led to an opportunity for the Panthers to score. Ultimately the Wild would win the game 2-0 and the powerplay would go on to not matter in the end.

The Panthers were held off the scoreboard in their first game and did not look like the same team from last season. Star forward Matthew Tkachuk was held in check and did not have much effect on the game.

The Panthers will need to be much more effective in their next game to get in the win column. They are trying to make the playoffs for the third straight season. Their next chance to get a win will come on Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets.
