Marc-Andre Fleury On the Verge of Making History
As the NHL season is set to begin, Marc-Andre Fleury is also set to hit a few career-defining milestones.
Fleury Set to Break 1000 Games This Season with the Wild
Fleury has already had a successful career by any standard. The Quebec native was drafted first overall back in 2003 and has since won three Stanley Cups, an Olympic Gold Medal, the Vezina Trophy, and appeared in numerous all-star games.
Twenty years ago tonight, John Barbero introduced Marc-Andre Fleury to Pittsburgh:
Now, barring injury, he is set to break the 1000-game mark, a huge milestone for any NHL player to hit. While Fleury is going to share the net with Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson, he only needs 15 games to reach the milestone, something he surely will get.
Fleury Also Set to Achieve 550 Wins
Fleury is also set to break the record for most wins by an active goaltender with 550, as he needs just 6 more wins to do so. It's unlikely that he will pass Brodeur for most wins all-time at 691, however, he needs just 8 more to pass Patrick Roy for second place.
The stick tap from Fleury 💀
While it is by no means a certainty, its safe to say that Fleury is in for a record year this season.
