The Maple Leafs have placed Forward Bobby McMann on waivers, according to Toronto Head Coach Sheldon Keefe.
McMann, 27, had an Assist in 10 Games for the Leafs last season in his first NHL season, becoming a surprise potential NHL option with a strong 24-Goal campaign in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies.
The move appears to signify that it is indeed Noah Gregor, who was on the team with a PTO deal, has filled the last Leafs unanswered roster spot. Gregor is expected to sign a one-year, $775k contract with Toronto later today. The deal has already been finalized and agreed.
If he isn't claimed, McMann will potentially get the chance to make the Leafs in the future, already having the experience to be relied on as a call-up. The trading of Sam Lafferty to the Vancouver Canucks gives even more of an opportunity for McMann to be trusted if he's needed in the NHL again, battling in what is still an AHL roster with a plethora of offensive talent.
McMann is signed with the Maple Leafs until the end of this upcoming (23-24) season, signed in 2022 after proving himself to be a successful AHL player.
