Tonight Minnesota Wild coach John Hynes made a fatal mistake that cost his team not just one but two points in overtime. During the overtime, John Hynes pulled his goalie and was scored on with the net empty.

The Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights were in a tight 1-1 battle heading into overtime. The Wild coming into this game were 7 points back of a playoff spot. In desperation to pull out 2 points and stay in the playoff race John Hynes pulled his goalie. Shortly after the Golden Knights would score on the empty net not only costing the Wild the game but the loser point as well.

JOHN HYNES PULLS THE GOALIE IN OT AGAIN. VEGAS SCORES ON THE EMPTY NET, 0 POINTS FOR MINNESOTA. #mnwild

It is unclear at the moment if John Hynes knew they could lose all the points if scored on with an empty net. Either way, the loss and lack of points from the Minnesota Wild makes things incredibly tough for them to climb back into the playoff race.

If the Wild end up missing the playoffs by a slim margin it will be interesting to see if fans or the media call for John Hynes' job due to this major gaffe.
