Third-year veteran Cole Caufield has become one of the team's most important players both on and off the ice. As one of the star players for the franchise, he has taken on a leadership role within the locker room despite his young age. Today he talked about what it is like around the team without St-Louis around.
Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki kept his remarks relatively diplomatic as he takes on an even bigger role with the head coach gone. He made sure to shout out the rest of the coaching staff, each of whom have had to take on larger roles over the past few days. He also made sure to send his best wishes to St-Louis and his family.
St-Louis's Absence comes at a difficult time for the team as they just kicked off a long road trip through western Canada and the United States. Things started off poorly as the team dropped the first game of the trip to the Calgary Flames 5-2, despite the team's best efforts.
The team now faces even tougher competition as they prepare to face the Oilers, Canucks, Kraken, and Avalanche over the next week. They do not play their next game at home until March 28th when they take on the Flyers. Such road trips are difficult for any team, let alone a young one without their head coach. Hopefully the team will respond with a couple of big victories against stiff competition.
