NHL Insider Confirms Star Offensive Defenseman Will Be Traded Soon
Tyson Barrie has been on the trading block multiple times in the past few years. The veteran blueliner has played in 790 NHL games for four different clubs. Now it seems as though he may soon find himself on a new team once again.
Predators Give Barrie Permission To Seek Trade
Sportsnet reporter and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported today that the Predators have officially given Barrie permission to talk with other teams about a possible trade. He also added that the veteran defender is expected to be a scratch tonight as to avoid a possible injury while the teams and player both try to find a better fit elsewhere.
There is word today the Nashville Predators have given Tyson Barrie permission to talk to other teams. Barrie is expected to be a scratch vs the Rangers and is a UFA after this season. This allows team and player to see if there is a better fit elsewhere
Barrie's Decline Could Signal End Of Career Coming
The 32-year-old is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. Regardless of whether or not he is traded, it is suddenly looking as though his days in the league may be numbered. Fans have already seen that Barrie is not the player he once was and as such his trade value is likely minimal, despite his reputation.
The advanced stats do not paint a pretty picture for Barrie either. In limited ice time this season he has largely been a net negative, despite managing to put up 9 points in 22 games.
The Nashville Predators have granted Tyson Barrie permission to discuss trade opportunities with other teams per @TheAthleticNHL. Barrie has been really bad this season at both ends of the ice to be honest. The change of scenery could help him.
At this point there have not been any teams liked to Barrie so his future this season is very uncertain. With his contract expiring at the end of the season this could be his farewell tour. You never know. We will just have to wait and see what some next for him.
