NY Rangers rumored to have deal in place to trade Jacob Trouba
The Buffalo Sabres were recently close to making a blockbuster trade involving Kaapo Kakko
and Rangers captain Jacob Trouba.
Rangers GM Chris Drury continues to explore trade options for Jacob Trouba, with potential destinations including the Philadelphia Flyers or San Jose Sharks, should Trouba waives his no-trade clause which is unlikely.
#NYR would be able to move Trouba almost instantly if he waived his NMC to #Sabres, #LGRW, and #FlyTogether. As of now its looking like a buyout, 3rd line pairing is the most likely option.
I would keep an eye on #Sharks too if that NMC gets waived.
Jacob Trouba Trade Talks: What's Next for the Rangers' Captain?
Despite initial talks, the deal between Drury and Sabres GM Kevyn Adams went nowhere when Trouba used his powers to block the movea situation similar to what happened when he was almost traded to the Detroit Red Wings earlier this offseason.
#Sabres and #NYR have had solid progress in a potential trade involving Jacob Trouba. He apparently has a lot more interest and flexibility in moving to Buffalo than to #LGRW. #NHL
Despite the blow, the Sabres are still interested in Kakko and what the young forward on a $2.4 million cap hit can bring them as they seem to snap their 13 year playoff drought.
#Sabres and #NYR had actually worked up a deal for Kaapo Kakko and Jacob Trouba before everything went south. Was looking like the Rangers were going to clear some significant space.
Buffalo is still interested in Kakko at this time.
#NYR Drury continues to talk with Trouba.
If he's not traded, the veteran will end up on New York's blueline for at least another season. The Sabres and other suitors will be keeping a close eye on how this situation develops.
