Oilers' Mattias Ekholm calls out NHL referees in press conference
The Edmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm called out the NHL referees in a press conference.
Once again, in this year's playoffs, officiating became a controversial talking point. While a few games went without any trouble, there's often one or two bad calls that steals the spotlight from the rest of the game.
In the last game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars, the refs made a controversial penalty call that shows their inconstancy.
"I looked at that Darnell [Nurse] penalty today and 5 minutes later I get cross-checked right in the same spot," admitted Ekholm.
"It's hard, it's physical, it's playoff hockey out there, it just seems to be we need to kill more than we get power plays," said Ekholm. "Whether that's just the way it has happened or not I don't know."
