The Ottawa Senators have been struggling to make the jump as a team that has been rebuilding for some time now. With the right pieces in play on their roster, the Senators have continued to struggle to become a competitive franchise.
Now, they are taking the next step to changing the team, firing Head Coach DJ Smith.
News Release: D.J. Smith has been relieved of his head coaching duties; Jacques Martin has been named #Sens interim head coach. Daniel Alfredsson joins the team's coaching staff as an assistant coach:
The Senators announced that Jacques Martin will be the interim head coach for the time being and that Daniel Alfredsson will join as an assistant coach.
Many saw this move coming, as the Senators continued to struggle. Now, the move will hopefully light a spark under the team for the remainder of the season.
