It looks like the rumors could be coming true.
Penguins Interviewing Star GM
It's no secret that the Penguins have been looking for a new GM to replace Ron Hextall, who was fired one day after the end of the Penguins' season.
Rumors have flown that now former Toronto GM could be Hextall's replacement but most of the rumors were shut down.
Now that Dubas has been fired by the Maple Leafs, discussions have opened up again.
Dubas previously addressed the rumors before he was let go by the Leafs, stating that he was going to stay in Toronto or do nothing at all.
Dubas was hired by Toronto in July 2014 as assistant general manager. He was hired as general manager in May 2018 after Lou Lamoriello's exit from the organization.
Dubas' biggest moves as GM included signing New York Islanders captain and free agent John Tavares to a seven year contract, as well as acquiring defenseman Jake Muzzin from the LA Kings via trade. His biggest move at the end of the trade deadline this year was acquiring Ryan O'Reilly from the Blues.
