Kyle Dubas Defends His Massive Tristan Jarry Extension
Yesterday, the Pittsburgh Penguins were one of the most active teams in the free agent market.
They signed multiple players such as Ryan Graves, Alex Nedeljkovic, Lars Eller, and Noel Acciari.
One of the major moves was giving Tristan Jarry a five-year contract extension worth $5.375 million.
Many people think Dubas overpaid for the goalie, but he doesn't seem to think so.
Dubas Defends Jarry
Last season, Jarry disappointed many people. His numbers weren't satisfying, but they were explained at the end of the season when the goalie revealed he was playing injured most of the time.
Giving him a 5x$5.375 contract is a risk, but Dubas is willing to take it.
Here's what he said during an interview:
Dubas defends the Jarry deal by looking back at the last three seasons. He says Jarry has played well through injuries. His age and the marketplace made it logical. "His sample shows he can be better... it's been made clear to him what my expectations are."
Now that this is out of the way, let's hope Jarry can remain healthy to give 100% in every game.
As seen on Hockey Feed - Kyle Dubas responds to criticism of the Jarry deal.
