Sidney Crosby is getting up there in age and he may need the perfect linemate to ensure nobody targets him.

Crosby's Injury History

Throughout his career, Sidney Crosby was sidelined by injury for a lot of his prime. Now past his prime, he has just played his first full 82-game season since 2017-18.

Turning 36 next week, any injury may be career-ending for Crosby. The Penguins' core is aging and the loss of Crosby would certainly kick off a rebuild.

Mock Trade

This trade is a lot to take in at the start. First off, Rickard Rakell is signed for another 5 years while Wilson is signed for only one more year. Secondly, Rakell posted 60 points last season compared to Wilson's 55-point pace.

However, Wilson provides more value than just his production. He is the type of player you hate to play against and would love on your team. Getting him from Washington means the Penguins no longer play against him 4 times a year.

He has also proven himself as capable offensively and could provide some nice bite next to Crosby for the rest of his career. While he will require an extension, he could prove himself as the perfect player for the Penguins and Sidney Crosby.
