The Pittsburgh Penguins find themselves at a crossroads. Although they are in the race for the playoffs and have a chance to secure a spot, their prospects of making it are quite slim.
They have a few options on the table ahead of the trade deadline on March 8th. They'll either go all-in and make a push for the playoffs, or sell some assets at the deadline.
One of the players involved in the rumor is Jake Guentzel. He'll be a free agent at the end of the current season and he'll probably ask for a high salary.
Unfortunately, this could push him out of Pittsburgh.
Reporter Emily Kaplan shared that the Penguins set their price for Jake Guentzel.
According the her, they'll ask for multiple first round picks, or a first round pick and a top prospect for Guentzel.
At 29 years old, the forward scored 52 points in 50 games this season in Pittsburgh.
In his career, he played 503 games and scored 466 points.
He is currently recovering from an injury that occured two weeks ago. We will see if this hurts his value, with less than two weeks before the deadline.
Updates will follow.
